Free Careers Advice and Guidance

eVolve your future is able to provide information, advice and guidance to help both employed and unemployed individuals make informed decisions about returning to work, employment-related learning, training and career opportunities.

In response to the COVID-19 we are able to support you with careers advice whatever your situation. See what the Education and Skills Funding Agency have put in place for us to help you at this time. We deliver this service on behalf of Futures for You.

 

Local and National Partnerships

We can develop relationships with jobseekers to help them to assess and develop their skills and plan for the future and respond to emerging requests from DWP and jobcentre staff locally and nationally, whilst providing bespoke support to identified key partners.

  1. Activity may include, but is not limited to; interview skills, job application techniques, skills assessments, identifying transferable skills, skills gap.
  2. These may include employers, employer groups, sector bodies, local/regional/national partnerships who are joining forces to create solutions at local, regional or sector level.
  3. Support includes, but is not limited to, utilising online and other innovative delivery mechanisms for presentations to comply with social distancing requirements. Seeking feedback to determine future skills needs, sectors which are recruiting, update labour market information.

 

Direct Support for Furloughed Workers

We are contacting, or being contacted by, and triaging furloughed workers directly in order to meet their needs, this may include, but is not limited to:

  1. Support to progress towards their immediate goals
  2. Encouragement and assistance to recognise, understand and/or develop their skills whilst furloughed by providing advice and information on interview skills, job application techniques, skills assessments, identifying transferable skills, skills gaps.
  3. Signposting to other relevant services and support
  4. Preparing for the delivery of full careers information, advice and guidance via the outcome based funding model if applicable in their situation

 

Direct Support for Employers of Furloughed Workers

We are supporting employers during the furlough period and helping them to plan ahead

This may include, but is not limited to, identifying key skills requirements, advice on recruitment, retention and progression, online presentations and webinars.

 

Supporting Other Government Departments and Authorities

We will be working with Mayoral Combined Authorities, LEPs and other local partners to support employers who are looking to recruit and train staff into essential vacancies

This may include, but is not limited to, deploying experienced advisers to support those being made redundant, through one-to-one and/or group redundancy support, career planning and employment and training/learning advice; guidance for staff at risk of redundancy,  working with employers who are recruiting to essential areas to understand their skills needs and requirements, matching employees to new jobs in sectors experiencing demand, identifying suitable individuals who are available and ready to start work.

 

Support for Pupils, Parents and Carers

We are working with the ESFA to develop and disseminate careers advice and guidance content for parents/pupils to use at home. Pooling knowledge and resources to provide a consistent and comprehensive national offer.

Supporting students whose examinations have been cancelled

This may include, but is not limited to, disseminating information provided by Ofqual, offering support, encouragement and inspiration to students who will be concerned about their future.

 

All conversations with our careers advisers are confidential and completely impartial. Our advisers will help you improve your working life by:

  1. Creating an action plan.
  2. Analysing your skills and checking their relevance when choosing a new career.
  3. Helping you to progress in your current role.
  4. Understanding job profiles.
  5. Improving your interview and presentation techniques.
  6. Updating or writing your CV.
  7. Finding information on available funding to support your training.
  8. Identifying training that is right for you.
  9. Helping you understand the types of disability support and childcare support available.
  10. Improving your reading, writing and maths skills.
